Successful crashtest coverage with PCO’s highspeed camera pco.dimax HD/HD+

Successful crashtest coverage with PCO’s highspeed camera pco.dimax HD/HD+

To successfully implement car safety or crash test applications, a powerful high-speed camera system with specific performance attributes and a high frame rate is essential. However, achieving success in a crash test application goes beyond having the right camera equipment. Success is defined by how effectively deformation can be measured and how well the 2D and 3D evaluations can be processed. The key factors influencing this are the quality of the image data and their temporal relationship.

Highspeed camera pco.dimax HD/HD+

A good and proven highspeed camera system like the pco.dimax HD/HD+ is required to record images with at a sufficient speed, resolution, dynamic and quality. Some of the key parameters are given in the following table.

These performance characteristics, coupled with build quality and other features, were compelling reasons for several major German car manufacturers to outfit their primary crash test facilities with these cameras.

Beside the usual performance data, which are compared if a highspeed camera should be applied in crashtests, there are a number of additional features, which might be important for an application (light sources, synchronization and trigger signal generation, software, cabling). A good interaction between all of these components enables high quality results.
