LASERY PÓŁPRZEWODNIKOWE

 

Laser półprzewodnikowy nazywany jest również laserem diodowym lub diodą laserową. Jego obszarem czynnym jest półprzewodnik.  Ich zakres  to pasmo od bliskiej podczerwieni do fioletowego pasma widzialnego.

Najczęściej laser półprzewodnikowy ma postać złącza p-n, w którym obszar czynny jest pompowany przez przepływający przez złącze prąd elektryczny.

Lasery te charakteryzują się małymi wymiarami, dość wysokimi mocami, łatwością modulacji prądem sterującym o wysokiej częstotliwości (rzędu gigaherców). 

Systemy diod laserowych to kompletne pakiety, które zawierają wszystkie komponenty potrzebne do obsługi lasera, takie jak głowica lasera, elektronika napędu, zasilacz i oprogramowanie sterujące (jeśli jest dostępne). Wiele systemów diod laserowych ma funkcjonalność „pod klucz”, aby zapewnić bezpieczne użytkowanie.

Systemy diod laserowych mogą być stosowane w naukach przyrodniczych lub w zastosowaniach takich jak cytometria przepływowa, mikroskopia konfokalna lub pułapki optyczne.
